If you're one of those worried about being replaced by metal and wire, here's an article from Forbes.com that might help you see it from a different perspective.

All is not lost.

How to Rev Up Your Job Search, Career, and Life!

By Richard Kent Matthews

Today, I share with you just one career site.

Quintessential Careers

It was recommended by Richard (Dick) Bolles in his What Color Is Your Parachute? 2017 edition. After looking it over, I think it can be a great help to you in your job search.

I tend to trust Mr. Bolles' suggestions. I've read his career books since 2010 and they're just about the best, in my humble opinion.

Tell me what you think of it by leaving a comment. If you don't think it has helped you, tell me why.

Thanks much and great success to you!

You can answer the questions with your mouth, but what about your body language?

By Richard Kent Matthews

Ageism is still out there, but you don't have to buy into it.

As Leslie Jane Seymour points out in the article link below, age can be a barrier, or at least in the minds of some people.

It doesn't have to be. Read on, get motivated, and don't let anyone or anything stop you from doing what you want to do.

I'm Desperate! Please Hire Me! Please!!! (Really?)

By Richard Kent Matthews

Signs of desperation not good for your job search!

Liz Ryan writes for Forbes this week about the best approach to presenting yourself. You don't want to look like you'd do ANYTHING to work here, do you? Good.

From the article: Job-seekers are taught to take the first offer they get, and not to be choosy. Of course job-seekers feel desperate when they are told that they are just one of a million job-seekers all competing for the same jobs!
You'll know that you are sending out signals of desperation when you find yourself doing these five things:

Change Your Words, Change Your Outcome: Talk Isn't Necessarily Cheap

Our language is powerful. It can help or hinder in greater degrees than we might imagine....

"Start by changing the subjects of your daily conversations from the life you are living to the life you aspire to create. By speaking the language of the person you seek to become, you will soon find yourself immersed in the conversations that make you most come alive.

You'll sense the energy you emit attracting similar energy from others. Your conversations will lead to opportunities, which will become actions, which will become footprints for good."  Adam Braun, The Promise of a Pencil: How an Ordinary Person Can Create Extraordinary Change (2014) www.AdamBraun.com/book

Talk isn't necessarily cheap.

The 2017 Hiring Picture in America: Get Ready!

Want to know where they're hiring in America this upcoming year? Then this is for you...

Forbes has posted the following article on the states that will be hiring heavy, and those that won't, in this new year.

Click here: Where the jobs will (and won't) be in 2017 by Karsten Strauss

From the article: The top five states, in terms of positive employment outlook, were Oregon (25%), Hawaii (23%), Florida (21%), Iowa (20%) and California and Oklahoma tied for fifth place with 18%.  On the low end – states where employers intend to tap the breaks on hiring – are Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana, West Virginia and Puerto Rico. Some of those, says Manpower North America senior vice president, Kip Wright, are probably related to mining and energy-related jobs. “Some of the pullbacks associated with what had been staffing increases and growth in prior years seems to have moderated.”
